Summary: "Barney it's three in the morning, something better be on fire."
Ted's phone woke him up by trying to vibrate off of the bedside cabinet, and even when he was actually conscious and flailing with an arm he still couldn't find the damn thing.
No one else would phone him at three in the morning.
"Barney it's three in the morning, something better be on fire." Ted hadn't managed to focus on anything yet and the light from the screen was slowly sending him blind. "You better be on fire."
"Two words Ted, Siamese twins, Sia-mese twins!"
Sometimes Ted wanted to tell Barney that the extra emphasis really didn't help.
"No, Barney."
"I'm sending you a picture."
"Don't send me a picture-"
Ted's phone beeped cheerfully, and far too loudly for three in the morning.
Of course Ted had to look, because not looking would leave him without significant information, pertinent to the conversation at hand.
"Oh dear god!"
He shouldn't have looked.
"I'm hanging up now Barney."
"This is the chance of a lifetime Ted, and I'm a man short for optimum performance. If it helps think of yourself as ballast, crucial to the success of the operation."
Ted was certain he didn't have the right sort of brain to have this conversation at three in the morning.
"Hanging up now."
Ted hung up.
