Oh, man, I have been desperately wanting a good fic where Stiles cuts his arm off since I saw that ep. This was perfect! I love how you blended Stiles' terror with his selfless strength.

Oh man. I'm sure the loss of an arm wouldn't make Derek much less threatening given how much he could still hurt you with the other, or impede his ability to loom and lurk, but the loss of ability to do some ordinary day-to-day stuff would be really weird... I suspect there would have been a lot more glaring and slamming people up against things by their throats with his other hand if this had happened. And poor, poor Stiles would have been traumatised for life, along with some of the fanbase if it had been shown in such graphic detail on the screen >.< Well done Stiles for managing it at all! >.> And I can't help but be really pissed at Scott for this, given how much time I know he was wasting having dessert or whatever with Allison's family and things. GRRRR.
Basically: this is so in line with the characters and what probably would have happened, my brain's not even bothering registering that it's AU fan fiction. Well done! :D

Yes, absolutely, I don't think it would take Derek long at all to adjust to being scary with one arm, but I think all the everyday things would frustrate the hell out of him. Stiles really would have been traumatised for life if he'd been forced to take Derek's arm off, and I knew I had to try and write it.

But, yes, Scott was busy off having awkward dessert while very important stuff was happening - and I think it's more than reasonable that he might not have been able to get away so quickly. Scott is easily distracted.

I'm happy you thought it felt realistic, that means a lot to me.
