HOLY CRAP SUMMER UPDATE

Sep 03, 2004 23:39

I sit here a very frightened man with a gargantuan task: give whatever readership I have some sort of chronicle of the miscellaneous salmagundi of events that took place in my life over the past three months. I think I might cry.

Sorry. I had to pause to call my dear friend Kiele a dummy.

So a lot of things happened this summer, and it's taking everything I've got to not write them out in an Angelica-esque list format. Bear with me; I'm digging deep in the watery catacombs of my memory to bring you these gripping tales of excitement.

For the first part of June I pretty much did nothing. I had some friends over and stuff and watched construction people start to dig a giant hole in my front yard. Also, I worked at the Exeter Math, Science and Technology conference for two days, earning a grand total of $80 for moving boxes and overhead projectors back and forth across campus repeatedly and spending hours sitting in Word Processing waiting for the antique laminating machine to heat up. I still owe the lovely Ratha Ly five bucks for lunch, don't think I've forgotten.

Then a day or two after that ended, I snuck off to Williams College in MA to make movies, make friends, and make uppity counselors love or hate me. I also did some acting.

The program was called Excel at Williams. I was there for one of the best months of my life, and that's not just because of the 3:1 girl/guy ratio (although that helped). I got a $114 library fine, stood under a glacial waterfall, and tried being a model (my new LJ picture depicts my first runway appearance). Needless to say, it was friggin' ridiculous. And that is why I already want to go back.

Williams made me a new man. I can't really put my finger on exactly what it was that did it, but I know this: in general, I have been much much happier since my return. Not to say I used to be sad, but if you haven't seen me since school ended and we meet again, I bet you'd notice the difference.

By the way, remember that hole in my yard I spoke of earlier? Well somewhere along the line while I was away, it magically became a pool! How cool is that? So I had people over to go nightswimming a lot, which is definitely one of the most relaxing activities one can engage in, next to eating yogurt with maple syrup mixed in (trust me, it is fucking delicious).

I also made a movie with Evan that kicks ass and takes advantage of the many editorial facets of the elite editing program known as Windows Movie Maker. Seriously, the movie kicks ass.

I'm psyched to go back to school because I really want to see everyone. But at the same time, I really don't want this summer to end. How nauseatingly teen-movie is that. Even so, being a senior is going to rock the fucking globe. 05!

So that's my summer summarized. There's a lot more to everything I've spoken of here, so if anything piques your curiosity, just ask me, and if I'm in a good mood maybe you'll get a good story.

Stay cool-
Dan
