We found a new nanny, and she's awesome. When I get home, my kitchen is clean, the toys are all picked up, and my kid is happy and clean and has a full tummy. They go on long walks in all kinds of weather. Tomorrow morning R and I have a play observation session at a preschool, and another one next week at the waldorf school (can't get enough of that waldorf kool-aid). We're thinking ahead to September.
Last weekend we went to Florida for Jay's aunt's memorial. We flew down to his mom's Thursday evening, Ruby stayed up waaay past her bedtime and spent a good part of Friday vomiting (travel stress? I dunno...) Drove across the state Saturday for a big party in memory of his aunt at Horse Heaven. Slept the night in a twin bed with R and she...fell out of bed. I am scarred for life, but she was fine. Sunday, back to Ft. Meyers. Monday flew home. Whew. All I can say is...we never have to do that again!
We went to the zoo today. It was cold in an awesome way and sunny sunny sunny. The big cats were very frisky. One of the leopards was pacing back and forth in his enclosure, and Ruby kept running back and forth in front of the glass, chasing him. Before the zoo we went over to a church in university city to see this really gorgeous
sand mandala. It was a good full day.
Yesterday I got a really good haircut. We got a
seltzer maker for christmas and it is the best small kitchen appliance ever. R has a little cold, so this will probably be a night of interrupted sleep, so I should probably go get a head start. 9:07 pm, checking out!
