A long time ago, I used to do a lot of creative writing. Long, sprawling stories. In the summer between 8th and 9th grades, I wrote an actual book--not a very good one, but over a hundred word-processed pages. But now? Nuttin'. The only fiction I write now is what comes out of my brain when riffing off other people. Like this:

I thought of it, actually; the original joke was that since the pen is mightier than the sword, he fights with a pen (or maybe a pen and a sword, which I think is funnier).

Huh. This is a completely different direction from where I went. And I went in a direction that I didn't mean to go in. (My original plan for Fightwriter was a rather bland character, a mediocre sports journalist sent to cover two-bit boxing matches.)
