Calling Invisible Women by Jeanne Ray

Another book by Jeanne Ray. (If you haven't read her first book Julie and Romeo, I hope you will.)

Ray doesn't write a lot, but what she does write is well crafted fiction and always interesting. (Note to science fiction fans: don't expect great world building here. It's meant to be about women's experiences, not about world building.)

In Calling Invisible Women, Clover is a woman of a certain age. She starts to turn invisible. No one notices. She's ashamed. Soon she's turned invisible all the time. In the newspaper one day, she sees an ad "Calling Invisible Women" for a meeting. Now invisible means you can't see her body. You can see her clothing. This has an impact in the story.

Her husband and children don't notice. But her best friend and her mother in law do.

Clover discovers you can either mope or become empowered.

I thought there was a good message in this book. I liked the way it was written and enjoyed the whole thing.
