I enjoyed this mystery. Except for the non-cozy bits. She would write like it was a cozy mystery. We're going along, I'm reading, then pow! the murdered body is discovered and the author just had to describe in painful detail all the blood and gore and body bits. It was quite disconcerting and really bloodier than the police procedurals I normally read.
That said. This book takes place in Edinburgh in 1926. Dandy, a wealthy aristocrat who looks into mysteries on the side, gets a letter from Lollie asking her to look into why her husband is threatening her. Dandy "becomes" Lollie's lady's maid for a while in order to prevent Lollie's husband from killing her.
Guess what? Of course the husband is killed. Who dunnit? It's a lovely puzzle. That's probably the best part. I loved the ending.
