Does anyone know if there's some sort of protocol about celebrating birthdays in a place where you don't actually get older?

[By the looks of things, she's wearing something a bit fancier than the usual in her second-favourite place in Wonderland: the music room.

[His eyebrows go up - he hadn't realized no one would be getting ay older here.]

...I don't know - I'd still count it. This place is completely mad, so it's good to have something to celebrate once in a while.

Why though? I don't suppose there's a birthday girl around here, is there?

[She laughs.]

Yes, there is. Her name is Evelyn and she was wondering whether or not she ought to fetch a particularly large cake from the kitchen and share it with people she knows.

That would be a fine idea, as long as she really does plan on sharing it with her dear, sweet friends here in Wonderland.

[And then he waggles his eyebrows a little because yes oh god he wants cake you should give him some.]

Whatever celebration there is is going to be rather informal; would you like to meet me in the dining hall, then?

[It's fancier there, at the very least.]

I would be loathe not to share a celebratory dessert with my dear, sweet friends.

Informal celebrations are the best ones, really. The dining hall sounds good! I'll be there.

[And he will be there, in a timely fashion and everything. But there's still a cake she needs to get before then.]

So, how old would you be if you were really getting any older? It's probably rude to ask, but with all of the strangeness here, I'm sort of curious.

[It's not altogether too rude in a place this informal, but admittedly, it isn't a question Evelyn is usually asked. Six months prior to the day she arrived in Wonderland, she had graduated from university.

Time flies.]

Twenty-two.

[A teasing grin.]

Were you expecting older or younger?
