Was it a dream?

What was
I've never been

That was... odd. I'm fairly certain there isn't a library that size here. If there was, surely I would have found it before now. It would have to have taken up multiple city blocks and be several stories high... I don't think it was a dream... It felt very real, at any rate.

what's this?, aziraphale's tra'delai

Perhaps it was a dream. We can't say for certain.

Er.. If I may, Do you remember much of the ordeal?

You remember it as well? Then... could it actually have been a dream? Or were we sharing dreams, then? Regardless, I wouldn't call it an ordeal. Rather, I enjoyed being able to spend time there with such gentlemanly company. But then... Did you really say all the things I remember you saying? About... about Byron and the, ah, time in which he lived?

You thought I was being gentlemanly? Goodness..

I.. er.. yes. But perhaps you shouldn't read too much into it. I mean, what nonsense, being immortal. As if something so silly could really happen.

Oh.... I certainly hadn't heard of such a thing outside of stories, but then why would you lie about something like that with this city being so strange I thought perhaps it wasn't entirely outside the range of possibility.

.....

Are you quite certain it wouldn't upset your sensibilities, my dear? After all, something of that nature could be quite shocking.

Shocking? I suppose so... Startling, definitely. We have very few legends of that sort of being in Amestris, and any stories I've read on the subject are either ancient or from one of the other places that Desai links to. So it's not as vital to my understanding of the world as it seems to be for other people, and even if it was, it would be exciting to meet someone with that kind of background! And where better to meet someone like that than here in Desai?

Ex.. exciting? Well I can't say I've heard that term used before, either, what with there suddenly being a God and his ineffable plans with the universe and all. Many would find it to be disturbing and would likely soon lose their minds. But then, you seem to have a bit more of a head on your shoulders, Miss Sheska.

Well... I don't really understand that part of it, to be quite honest with you, The implications are so many and so widespread that I haven't gotten them all sorted out yet, let alone come up with the proper questions to find answers for them. I need to sit down and chart some of them out. But focusing on one thing at a time, just the existence of an immortal is so fascinating an idea in and of itself! If nothing else, that sort of person would probably have a much more dispassionate view of history and a better grasp of the facts of various situations. After all, I believe the saying is "The victors write the history books". So many things are smudged or overlooked altogether because the writers don't want certain things known, or have an entirely different idea as to why such an action was acceptable, or why so-and-so was a hero. An immortal would find themselves above that, I should think.

Do you really suppose it would be that fascinating? Oh, my dear, I knew there was a reason that I liked you. You are truly a gem, and I mean that when I say it! More than just a gem, you're positively a treasure. Oh why can't the world be filled with others just like you?

What have you got to apologise for? It is certainly not any fault of yours that you are a one-of-a-kind person. I think that makes you rather special, actually. Just assure me of one thing: That you shall not change a bit.

Oh, of course, of course. How silly of me. As long as you maintain your sweet disposition, I think that shall be sufficient enough for me.

I'll certainly try! I'm just glad that you're not upset that I intruded on your time in that marvelous library.

Intruded? My dear, I don't think it could have been less intrusive if you'd asked. I rather enjoyed your company, Miss Sheska. As always, you are a delight to spend time with.
