first (and last) bit of sewing for a while
For some ungodly reason, I woke up at around 5:30 this morning. I tried to stick it out and fall back to sleep until around 6:15, at which point I said to myself, "screw it. as long as i'm conscious, I might as well get something done, damnit," and got up and cut out my viking apron dress. I even got a few of the seams done.
The pieces go:
side panel - gore - front panel - gore - side panel - gore - back panel - gore
I got all the gores sewn to the front and back pieces, and got the side panels pinned up. I still need to pin/sew the remaining 2 side seams, cut dips in the sides so there's room for my arms, make the lucet cord for the shoulder straps (which I'll be doing on my lunch break today), finish the top edge (with lucet cord in place), and hem the bottom. Think I can finish in time for the viking festival this Saturday?
In other news, I spent a lovely weekend with Steve, made a batch of super-chocolatey fudge (made from Ghirardelli 60% cacao chocolate chips), and drove up to L.A. on Sunday night for a training session for my new job. Spent Monday at said training session, and got to spend some time chatting with my boss-to-be, and she seems like she'll be a good supervisor. The new job is going to have a LOT more work and a LOT more responsibility than my current one, but I think it'll be a really good experience.
Haven't seen any more apartment listings that I particularly like, although there's another 1BR duplex that got posted this morning. I got an e-mail from the one place that I applied for, saying that they've narrowed it down to 3 equally acceptable candidates, and to let them know if I'm still interested. They ran credit checks yesterday, and will be getting together to make a decision within the next few days. So, keep your fingers crossed for me.
Packing continues slowly. I took ten or eleven boxes, and a pile of costumes up to L.A. this weekend, but there's still so much to pack. My goal for tonight or tomorrow is to get photos of all the stuff I'm trying to sell, so I can (finally) get around to posting it on craigslist.
