yay!
not much time to post today, but...
my farthingales order arrived sooner than expected (i.e. tuesday), so i was able to put the boning in and work on the bodice some more over the 4th.
What's left to do:
--finish (hand-)sewing the last 6" of sleeves to the lining, then hand-sew the outer fabric on top to hide the seam allowances
--cut the tabs
--bind the tabs
--make the overskirt
--pleat the underskirt into a waistband
--sew hooks & bars in place to keep the waistline of the overskirt where I want it
--if I have time, stitch over the eyelets on the bodice
--if I have time, sew a band of green taffeta to the sleeves, where they gather at the elbow. (right now, there's just a line of gathering stitches, but the gathers pouf out so much over it that you can't really see the stitching)
--if I have time, put one more layer of paper mache' on the mask (which I popped off the form and started trimming this weekend... it looks so good!), sand it, and paint it. Hopefully, Susan will help me on this one.
