AMERICAN IDOL CONCERT!!!!!!

Jul 13, 2003 13:06

Hey yall. I haven't updated in awhile because nothing too interesting has happened lately. But last night was the American Idol concert and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! It still so surreal that I actually saw the people who I've been watching on tv for so long in person. Granted, I was pretty far away, but still. I'll start from the beginning. My friend Megan and her mother picked me up around 4:40 and we drove downtown. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe before going to the concert. It was so crowded there!! I kept seeing Claymates and Clayniacs left and right. I saw maybe about three Ruben shirts and TONS of Clay ones. It was obvious who Indiana supports. They also had a little yelling contest for Clay and Ruben inside there... Clay fans were yelling louder!!! It was a little after seven by the time we left there. We walked a short distance to the arena and went through the little security check with the police. I couldn't understand the guy when he was asking me to pull my shirt tight and turn around. Apparently it was to be sure no one weapons underneath their clothing. Anyways after that we got inside and saw a huge crowd of people. We stood there for a second and then realized that it wasn't going anywhere. We asked a person where to go and they showed right where to go and we got there in minutes. I think that big crowd was for all of the merchandise. We then found our seats. We had an awesome view of the stage. Around 7:45 the concert finally began. It started with Charles singing some song I didn't recognize. Julia was next and she sang "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. I'm VERY impressed by how great she sounded. She sounded almost exactly like Christina.. which in a way is great, but also bad because in the music industry you need something unique to survive. Rickey Smith was next.. no idea what he sang. Then Kim Caldwell came out. Her hair was absolutely hideous! Her outfit was kinda skanky but I expected that from her. She sang that one song by Stacie Orrico. She did good. After she finished she gave a shout out to her mom who was in the audience on the floor. I've heard she was in the 8th row. People say that after the show was over she came down on the floor and people got to meet her! Lucky people. Next was.. CARMEN!!!!! I was really about ready to pass out. Kim Caldwell introduced her as the most innocent in the group, lol. She came out and sang "Up" by Shania Twain. She did so awesome and I'm so proud of her!!! That girl can definitely dance and she knows how to work the stage and audience. I love her. After Carmen was Trenyce. She sang Proud Mary and was AWESOME! I'm kind of sick of that song but I still loved her performance. I have a 10-second video clip of it that I took with my digital camera. Next was Kimberly Locke singing my FAVORITE Kim song ever, "Band of Gold". She was just as great as she was when she sang it on the show. After Kim sang it was time for the big moment. Clay. Once she introduced him the crowd went CRAZY! People everywhere were screaming.. it was insane! He sang "This Is the Night" so amazingly and flawlessly. He is truly an amazing singer. The crowd loved him. Afterwards he looked into the audience and saw a poster that said "I'll give you a dollar to sing, Clay!" He asked the lady if he gets the dollar. She then threw a doll up on stage with shorts on that said "Clay" with the dollar tucked inside the shorts. Clay couldnt see it at first because of the dry ice and he goes "If this is someone's panties, I'm outta here!" It was great. He then introduced Ruben. Ruben sang "Superstar". I almost died of boredom. He just kept singing and singing... I was like when will it end?!?! Eventually he stopped and there was a 20 minute intermission. We went up and looked at the merchandise from the back of the group. I got a BEAUTIFUL 8X10 of Carmen :D. The t-shirts were 30 dollars and I just didn't feel like spending that much on them. And they had programs for twenty.. I didn't bother getting one but might try eBay later. We went back and the guys performed some song at a little bar that they set up on the stage. The girls then came out and sang "Bootylicious" There was an obvious difference between the outfits that Kim L. and Carmen wore compared to the rest of the girls. I'm glad that Carmen has class though. Next was, *I THINK* the BeeGees medley. It was pretty long and they all had some solos. Clay sang "To Love Somebody" during it. The BEST Clay song EVER! At some point in time Carmen performed a solo with a song from Footloose. They brought out a bench and I had heard that she was going to dance on the bench but she didnt! I was disappointed. Kim Locke also sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" during one point. She did awesome. All of the girls also came up on a motorcycle to sing "Real Good Time" by Pink. I almost forget! Ruben and Clay sang "The Girl is Mine" together.. good acting!! LOL. The group later performed "Time of My Life". They then introduced the band and I think that a lot of people thought it was the end and left. Don't be fooled though! They just wanted people to cheer really loud and they came back out. Clay came out in a Pacer's jersey and sang "Invisible". It's so AWESOME! He sang it with a lot of emotion and really performed the song well. It's gonna be awesome. Ruben then proceeded to sing "Flying Without Wings". Yawn. Kim L., Ruben, and Clay also sang Imagine. They were awesome! The show ended with the group singing God Bless the USA. There were some cool pyro effects on stage and the dancers waved flags. Overall the concert was just awesome!!! It's something I never want to forget. All of the Idols did a great song and completely deserved to be in the top 12. I took lots of pics that didn't turn out too bad considering I was up in the second level. I'd post them here but I have no way of linking them. If I remember anything more I'll add it later. AMERICAN IDOL ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
