Ok, yes there was a slight fire at my house on the 4th of July. No, noone was injured. It happened in the shed in the backyard. We were going to deep-fry a turkey, but before we got it in, the thermometer on the fryer malfunctioned, and the hot oil boiled over, catching the flame from the propane tank, and bursting into flames. So, at our best estimation, we had a giant 10+ gallon vat of flaming oil. Indoors.

So, it was successfully put out before the fire dept. showed up (we even had time to call them and tell them they werent needed.), thanks to my father, who sprayed the actual side of the fryer with the garden hose, to cool it off. We would have used a fire extinguisher, but....yeah. We of course have never, ever had one.

We ended up getting away with one melted rake, my father with some minor burns to his feet from splashing oil that was on fire, and one delicious grilled turkey. Not to mention all of the other food we had anyways, so even if we had lost the turkey, it wouldnt have amde a difference, since there was also BBQ spareribs, venison sausage, hot dogs, chicken, clams (raw and grilled), corn, and 3 salads.

Later, I went to my friends house, had a few beers, and watched at the neighbor kids blew off fireworks. We laughed when they accidentally shot one into the crowd of their family, who was also watching. We also laughed when they shot one through something made of glass, that needed cleaning up. We werent sure what, but we sure heard it break.

I came home, had a margarhita, and went to bed.

And now, i sleep.
