a beautiful day
so, today, i woke up, played the game, read the bible, took a shower, got ready, argued with craig, made up with craig, left to go to my parents house - and showed up 10 minutes late to my own bridal shower. :D oops.
it was truly a wonderful day. the party started at 2, and i got there around 15 after. i made my way inside, and my mom had set up beautiful red roses all over the house - and had sprinkled rose petals here and there. there was also a beautiful boquet (however you spell it) of fire and ice roses (or something very close to that). my mom had made my very favorite cinnamon butter mints. they are so, so good. it's a family recipe, and it's just wonderful. to my great surprise, my aunt had been flown in! my uncle bought her the ticket, and she flew in last night and surprised my parents and family, and then today when i got there she was there to surprise me. i was so excited and happy! about 19 women showed up in all, and it was just a really sweet day. we played several games - the ice-breaker was that everyone had to take a string (any length of their choosing) and no one knew why. then, my MOH explained the rules - for each time you wrapped the string around your finger, you had to say something about yourself or about me. it was really nice, and turned into people saying what a blessing i was, among details about their life. it was a really great way for everyone in the room to know something about the other people, and i was really blessed by it. the next game was a bingo game - everyone had a piece of paper all arranged like a bingo mabober, and they filled in the sqaures with what they thought i would get for the presents. then they had to put a piece of paper on their head and draw what they thought i was going to look like on the wedding day. that was really funny. the last game was one where they had 2 rolls of toilet paper, and had to design a wedding dress...there were three groups. i picked my sister's group to win, because i loved the way they did the veil. but everything else, one of my sweet bridesmaids won (she's my brother's ex-girlfriend).
then, it was time to open my presents. i got so many great things - lots of stuff off the registry, and some really cool things that weren't. i was so excited to show craig.
finally, everyone started leaving, and i thanked everyone a lot for coming and being a part of the special day. the wedding is in two weeks and so i'm really excited for this time to pass - i know the wedding day is going to be just as much a blessing as this was. :D
it was absolutely wonderful, and i truly felt like such a loved princess. it was really wonderful. and craig was excited about everything too. my aunt goes back to colorado tomorrow night. i'm so happy she's here though.
craig isn't feeling 100% - so if you could all please pray for him, i'd really appreciate it.
also, i got some bad news tonight, but this was such a great day, i don't want to spoil it with that - so if you could pray that things will turn out how they're supposed to, i'd really appreciate that too.
