i'm tired, but in a very good way. i had a manager's meeting this morning, and that went very, very well. i then had training, after i picked up my birth control. so, yeah. then i had church. i talked to the kids about the importance of passion, and being a walking, talking testimony as opposed to shoving religion down the throats of those who ( Read more... )

I'm not sure what you mean about being a walking, talking testimonty rather than the religion part. The Bible teaches both- to walk the walk and talk the talk. The apostles sure wouldn't shut up about the gospel.

what i meant here was that it's important to be a light through example, moreso than throwing things out about religion/laws randomely.

I think I see what you mean , but I look at it this way, noone knows how to be an example unless they know what the Bible teaches. It's like getting the cart before the horse. Someone can try to be a good person and maybe even succeed in some areas, but if they aren't aware of God's law, and how they've broken God's law, and have no way of repayiing or making up for it on their own but need God's sacrifice on their behalf, no amount of doing good will benefit them in any way other than getting the praise of other people.

you're missing my point. what i'm saying is that it's better to win others by doing than by forcing it on people.

I still would have to disagree on this one because the way that God chose to spread the gospel in the Bible was through preaching. All of the apostles were hated for, "forcing it on people". To be honest, noone can really convict a sinner, only the Holy Spirit can, but God chooses for the way for the Holy Spirit to convict many times is through the preaching and teaching of his word. Many people in history who later became sold out for Christ were angry when they first heard teaching about him.
I can almost meet you at a middle ground though in that I have to admit that it shouldn't be an either or but rather a both and of teaching through words and showing by actions. James makes the point clear that works will follow those who believe.
