yeah! it's nuts. basically a giant, directional microwave oven.

makes you wonder how well protected the thing is from surges.

wikipedia has a pretty good (and terrifying) catalogue of 'less than lethal' weapons. i actually wrote part of the Taser article, the part about the Home Office study that found tasers could ignite a mannequin doused in tear gas.

other goodies:
-an electric water cannon
-a directional microphone that can send a beam of sound at 140dB (i actually saw one of these mounted on a paddywagon at a protest once). it's called LRAD, and look like this:

the other thing is that though that have done extensive testing, to be a part of it, you have to take off all metal objects, glasses and contact. you know, just like real life where no one has any of these things.

if you youtube this, one of the videos that comes up is the promotional video, which is terrifying in its own right, but some kid set it to grand buffet's "you're on fire"...

i'm not as worried about it beign available on the free market as i am about the government's cache.

Scientifically, I am rather impressed by this. Other than that, I agree with the above comments.
