a few nights ago i was wandering around my kitchen to make some food and i noticed that something was slightly off about the horizon. and suddenly i realized what it was:
whiskers was totally sleeping in the napkin basket! it was like an optical illusion or something.
speaking of whiskers, we took her to have her yearly checkup. she has always been the healthiest of our cats but suddenly in only the past month or so she has started slipping almost every other time she jumps up on a counter, she doesn't hear things that she normally always hears, and she doesn't smell things that she normally always smells (e.g., usually she can smell when we take out cheese from OUTSIDE, but now she doesn't even take notice when she's in the room next door). they suggested old age, arthritis, etc. but we also have her sister, tuna, and tuna is fine. also if it's old age, how strange that she's deteriorating in only a month, and if it's arthritis then how does that explain her not hearing or smelling like normal? so we had all of these extensive tests done on her.
while we were at the vet the staff were trying to convince this woman out of declawing her cat. i have a BIG problem with declawing cats, and it made me so angry that even though professional staff were telling her not to, as well as suggesting other options, she was being resistant. honestly, i have 5 fucking cats and i have never had a problem with scratching. yes, they might try and test your nerves by scratching when you get them, but puppies ruin everything for A LOT longer after you first get them and do we remove their teeth? no! invest in a scratching post, it makes a big difference.
declawing cats is equivalent to removing our fingers at the last knuckle. it is NOT the same as "just taking off the nail." also people act like it's no big deal because it's only one procedure and it doesn't hurt forever which is definitely not true. MOST vets do not know how to properly declaw cats. they remove the claw and then they send them on their way. one is supposed to pull the padding up over the bone so that they won't be in pain for the rest of their lives walking around on their bones. but, of course, most vets don't do that and so most cats are in pain.
also they can't do simple things that every animal should be entitled to like scratch themselves, pick things up, etc. which is disgusting.
there is also a product called
soft claws which are nail caps so if you are DETERMINED to fuck with your cat, at least you can do this without permanent damage and they can keep their claws without the chance of scratching.

so anyway, i finally got my permit. even though i'm 19 years old, but hey! you have to start somewhere.
also i'm growing out my nails and they are finally starting to look acceptable.
for father's day, i got my dad these really cute little lanterns for his porch, so i hope he likes them.
