Name 12 characters you have played in RPGs, before looking at the questions that follow. List your characters numbered 1 to 12, with the name of the RPG you played them in. Once you've picked your 12 characters, look at the questions and answer accordingly. (No peeking until you've picked your characters!) Put your answers behind a cut.
1) Trellane - Cormyr-ian Ranger and first character ever! (high school D&D)
2) Dante Westermarck - this poor kid, he was slightly nuts (City of Ten Thousand Lights)
3) October "Toby" Wells - kind of crazier, a mage, and sort of like Soviet Russia, because sometimes he played me (Shadowrun)
4) David Green Wells - not related to the above, epic hero/slayer of evil (Epic Larp IV)
5) Arivestal/"Caej" - happy druid whose bear companioin was more intelligent than he was (Matt's D&D)
6) Robert "Ro'Maeve" Madison - emperor penguin pooka (Carmel Changeling)
7) Luke Steven Estevez - avatar of the confessor, psychiatrist, truthseeker (Unknown Armies)
8) Dr. Evan Waugh - falcon dummy ventriloquist time explorer (Chrono Curator)
9) Jake Francis Kinney/"Parker" - Acanthus free spirit and moral compass (Mage:the Awakening)
10) Brent Dawson - martyr for humanity, poor soul, and druggie (Hunter: the Reckoning)
11) Lilith Rains - bitch (Power and Consequences Changeling)
12) Derek Fontaine - angry wreckless youthful Mage in search of his vampiric mother (Trystan Park Vampire/Mage)
1) Who would make a better college professor: 6 or 11?
Good lord n' gravy. My two changelings. Well, the winner is almost certainly Ro. He did have his own art gallery, you know! He'd instruct students in the many art forms of painting fish. Unless Lilith has some secret skills, she'd make a pretty bad instructor. Lilith would likely just start hitting on all her hottest male students anyway. And give them higher marks if they performed well.
2) Do you think 2 is hot? How hot?
Um, he's 16. And a little dirty from all the moving around and the not bathing much. Still, he's well-traveled and rugged because of it. And he's got magic. And a really good heart. Um, yes. But only as hot as I can get away with without geting into trouble. ::runs::
3) 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?
Derek sends Dr. Waugh into the past to stop his mother from being embraced by a vampire. You see, Derek was only 9 or 10 or so when this happened. Dr. Waugh would arrive at the coordinates, but then try to reason with the vampire. The vampire would not be amused at the falcon dummy and would be likely move to attack Evan. If Evan has foreseen this, then he'll have a brilliant plan involving lasers to cut the vampire down to size. If he hasn't, his poor physical stats won't serve him well in a fight, and he'll die.
4) What is, or would be, 9's favorite book?
Some transcendentalist poetry, probably a collection of Emerson works.
5) Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
Geez. At first though, I think youth would bow to age, since Dante would respect an elder, especially one who had such a strange and supernatural appearnce to him. But eventually, Dante would see Ro's eccentricity and range of powers and realize that he himself has greater potential. He'd stop swearing fealty, but would never get Ro to swear to him. They'd probably just passably coexist.
6) For some reason, 5 is looking for a room-mate. Should they share a studio apartment with 9, or 10?
Arivestal would have a much better time with Parker. For one, they're both spellcasters and can bond on that. Parker likes animals well enough, so he and Arivestal and Ursa could stay up late at night talking about nature and bigger questions of life. Yeah, it'd be pretty chill. Brent would just be out all the time, and often coming home covered in (his own) blood or not at all. Though I guess Arivestal's healing magic would be put to good use.
7) 2, 7, and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
Poor Luke. Dante and Derek would probably get along pretty well, talking about magic and lost parents and defeating evil things. Luke would be silent at first, feeling like he's babysitting. But you know, eventually his curiosity would take hold and he'd lend a rapt ear to his younger counterparts' experiences. Luke would totally treat them all out to someplace nice, something ritzy, in New York City.
8) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?
Brent probably accepts on account of Toby probably being crazy enough to propose the duel by doing something weird with his magic. Brent sees this as something unnatural and Wrong and agrees to a time and place. If Toby forces the duel then and there, it would be a pretty close fight unless Brent manages to get Project off. If there's a set date and time, then Brent comes back later with James and (Max's character) to take Toby out. They have guns and Edges ablaze. Unless Toby turns tail and flees, they get him. Functional Hunter groups ftw woot woot
9) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would they get it back?
LOL. I love the thought of Trellane stealing Evan's falcon dummy. Evan would be really really sad. And I suppose he'd have to start chasing Trellane, because he has no means whatsoever to pinpoint Trellane's location once he loses him. Likely, Evan would curse and go buy a new dummy.
10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.
"The Highest Channel of Knowledge and Virtue"
11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?
Too easy. Oh noes! Evil! They'd function pretty well in traditional party roles, except for being incompatible levels.
12) If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?
Pretty well. I'd annoy Luke a little bit, though. He'd probably prefer the company of someone closer to his age, or at least a little more mature. But we totally might click on the empathy and talking to people vibe. If we hit it off there, then I foresee very good times indeed.
13) If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?
I'd probably send Toby to assassinate a certain powerful world leader for the betterment of mankind everywhere. He might be able to pull it off with a supercharged Ball Lightning.
14) Does anyone on your friends list resemble 9 (either in appearance or personality)? (For those taking the meme from me, the original number was 11, but I rolled a d12 for a new result)
Nobody on my friends list looks like Parker, except maybe for
shadowyvern, but he'd have to wear his contacts and dye his hair dark brown, and wear blue jeans. Barring myself, no one on my list is like him personality-wise.
15) If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be?
If Dante saw David Wells and Arivestal in adversarial positions...hmm. He'd only take sides if he were forced to. But he would choose Arivestal. For one thing, Ari is a caster, and Dante loves all things magic. He'd be really delighted by Ursa. And David Wells just seems so serious all the time. He'd be much more inclined to get to know Ari. He'd side with the druid.
16) What might 10 shout while charging into battle?
"You monster!" or "Leave him/her alone!!!"
17) If you chose a song to represent 11, which song would you choose? (For those taking the meme from me, the original number was 8, but I rolled a d12 for a new result)
"Oops! I Did it Again" by Spears.
18) 1, 6, and 12 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?
Ro. There is a moment of hesitation as all three hands reach for it and stop at the realization of the dilemma. Ro just doesn't care. He takes advantage of the situation, grabs it, and stuffs the whole thing into his mouth, gobbling audibly. Trellane looks bitter. Derek sighs.
19) What might be a good pick-up line for 2 to use on 10?
O_O; Um... "Hey, can you help me? There are so many weird things out here, but I think I can trust you...*pitiful, guilty look*...can I stay with you tonight?"
20) What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
Um, gee, let's see.... Bringing a brown bear with him to places brown bears ought not to be! (Like, civilization.)
21) What is 6's secret?
Ro likes to sneak into the backyards of children all across the Bay Area and appear as a penguin, befriending them, and creating a legend amongst the schoolkids of the magical penguin who can fly.
22) If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Given these two characters, the destination is most certainly not a place. But Lilith would be allowed to get there first, if Parker knows what's good for him. However, he must be careful to try and get there just after Lilith does, or else he may not get there at all. Timing is key, which is fortunate, since Parker's time magic will allow him to perform this task perfectly. A little Fate magic won't hurt either.
23) If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?
Geez, Luke, hands down. At least we'd look like two full-grown men who can possibly handle themselves. Walking with a man with a stuffed falcon on his arm is just like saying, "Hey, look! Come beat me up and steal my money!"
24) 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?
"Time Bomb"
