Today at 10 am I met with Joan of Clear Ideas, Inc. in Sandusky to discuss an in-kind sponsorship for the Potato Extravaganza. Let me just say, Journal, that things went very well. It appears that we will be getting 500 11"x17" fliers (most b&w; some color); 1,000 mini-fliers (all b&w); and 1,000 tickets with perforated stubs, in exchange for advertising them as a sponsor/printer of all printed materials. That, and we may have to help promote the "Shining Star" competition (American Idol for Sanilac County) on our websites. But hell! for all the swag they're giving those terms are MORE than excellent for us.
So, in order not to fuck things up by waiting too long to pay Banana 101.5 and them changing their mind about giving us $3,000 in ads for $500, I am fronting the $500 to lock them in. Having those ads is a BIG pull for potential sponsors, so it's best to be safe. I think if we put everything we've got into promoting this fucker then we can easily make-up the $2,000 or so of expenses thus far and thus, get me my $500 back. The line-up is pretty stellar, in my opinion: Mustard Plug, Forever In Terror, Crackjaw, Downtown Brown, Rotation, and a bunch of other local/regional bands. Granted I probably don't really enjoy the music all that much (who knows, I haven't heard most of them) but they are pretty decent sized names that should bring in a decent crowd.
Other than that my day has mostly been me playing some Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, eating food, working on the Potato X flier, and watching Pan's Labyrinth.
Peace and Love.
