Hillary Clinton mentioned Bobby Kennedy's June assassination as a reason it's too early for her to drop out in May. Don't believe me? Check the link, there's video.
Dear Senator Clinton:
Are you high? Are you mental? Are you completely out of touch with reality? You do not, I repeat, NOT, suggest in any way that that the possibility of your primary opponent getting murdered makes your ongoing candidacy something other than the long-shot, quixotic, delusional, or destructive (depending on who you ask) endeavor that it is.
You ESPECIALLY do not suggest this when your primary opponent already has particular reason to fear lunatics with guns because of his race.
I don't know about
luna_k, but I am officially over anybody telling me Clinton is staying in this race for feminism, fairness, or Florida. She's gone beyond saying her support is from "hard-working [white] Americans." She's gone beyond claiming she's winning the popular vote by the peculiar arithmetic of including straw polls she agreed shouldn't be counted back when she thought they'd hurt her chances, and excluding caucuses she called "a great tradition" when she thought they'd help her.
She's now rhetorically opened the door to those who would rather kill her fellow Senator, her fellow Democrat, her fellow HUMAN BEING, because they don't want anyone BUT a white American to be president. And that's despicable.
And before you get after me, no, I don't think she meant to invite violence against Barack Obama. I think she meant to say, "Anything can happen, who knows?" But that's not what she said.
ETA (8:12pm EDT): They're discussing this on Olbermann right now, and he'll be doing a Special Comment on it at the end.
