Just have to rant about something real quick. I was out at the Ballston Metro tonight, handing out flyers & urging commuters to vote this Tuesday, and you know what I heard all night?
"WAIT, THERE'S AN ELECTION TUESDAY?!?"
*headdesk*
Yes, there's
an election in Virginia this Tuesday. Granted, it's a LOCAL election, so there's a lot of people who don't think it's as important as a national election, but... still. It makes baby Luna cry that people are that oblivious to the democratic process. Don't they read a newspaper? Haven't they seen the 300 billion campaign signs littered all over the commonwealth? I don't know how it is in the rest of the state, but here in NoVA you can't drive 10 feet in any directions without encountering 5 competing campaign signs along the roadside.
So, to any and all Virginians out there, just a reminder: THERE'S AN ELECTION THIS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 2007. What are we voting for? All 140 Virginia House and Senate seats are up for grabs, there's 3 ballot initiatives to vote on, and there's a bunch of other offices like Commonwealth's Attorney, School Board, Board of Supervisors, Sherrif, etc to decide. It's really important to vote this Tuesday, not just because it's your civic duty, but because of a whole bunch of reasons you can read about
here. The biggest
reason is that the rest of the country is watching - if Democrats can take the House or Senate, we can be in play as a swing state in 2008.
