Ohio Congressman Gillmor has died.

Representative Paul Gillmor (R-Ohio) has died.

I mention it because the C-Span headline I saw said it was suicide (citing The Hill?, which now says likely heart attack); the CNN article makes no mention of this. On the one hand, I don't see C-Span as prone to sensationalism. On the other hand, Gillmor was 68, so natural causes isn't ( Read more... )

YES. Now if only the GOP can drag out this mess until the election, we should have it in the bag. (Famous last words. But c'mon!) Honestly, though, how funny is the Craig thing?! And a dead Republican doesn't really bother me. Ever. I'd feel guilty, but....nah.

And it's the funny that keeps on giving. Apparently Arlen Spector is the one telling him not to resign. Wouldn't it be great if it overshadowed the phony Petraeus report (he's testifying on Sept. 11th, and that's just a coincidence rly).

I admit I don't feel particularly bad about Gillmor, but that's at least partly because I don't tend to start caring about people just because they die. I was kinda "whatev" when Diana died, too. I mean, if I were a public figure, I'd be appropriately somber about it, but.

Sept. 11?! Hadn't heard about that. DUDE, how full of LOSE can someone be? Ugh on toast.

Yeah, it depends on my level of attachment. Like, I was a basketcase when Ann Richards died, but, using that example, Diana never registered with me, so I was kinda "Uhm....how sad?" about the whole thing. When people who I DON'T LIKE die, though, (hi, Ronald Reagan), I've been known to gloat. It's cruel, but, there you are.

A question the Bushies strive to provide new answers to all the time. I don't think it was Petraeus's decision, just like I don't think it'll really be his report. (You heard about how it was going to be written by the White House, and then wasn't, and then was only going to be presented to closed committees in Congress and then wasn't, right?)

When people who I DON'T LIKE die, though, (hi, Ronald Reagan), I've been known to gloat.

Ouch! When Reagan died, I was too busy pointing out how disastrous his presidency was to gloat.

Ugh. I may have to watch the Daily Show spoof it rather than read the news. Sounds too painful.

I probably would've too, but there lies the path to madness, and I've got enough of that to go around. Plus, all the Reppies walked around looking like they'd just found out Santa was a pedophile, and what can I say, I was amused.

Or watch Olbermann. From the links I see, he's already kicking ass on the topic of the surge's effect.
