This all reminds me of Chris Rock's standup rountine when Colin Powell was teasing about running in 1996. I'm paraphrasing, but the routine was something along the lines of "White people say they'll vote for Colin Powell, but they won't. You know how I know? They always give him the same compliment - 'He speaks so well!' He's so well-spoken!' He's a fucking educated man - what the fuck did you expect him to sound like? 'Imma drop me a bomb today! I'll be PREZ-O-DENT!''"
