Just a Couple Pics From Today's March
I didn't get home until 6pm, and as soon as I got back a friend scooped me up for dinner & a movie, so I'm just now getting to check the internets to see how our massive peace march was recieved.
It looks like RenaRF has a great diary of the march up at Daily Kos, as does TimRoff. I'm going to leave the major analysis & commentary to them, because I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay too tired for that, but here's a couple of my pics anyways.
So, I was going to go to the march with my church, but in the end I decided to meet up with a bunch of people from Daily Kos instead. I'm really glad I did, because I ended up meeting a lot of cool people I've only known as posters before. We all met up at Starbucks beforehand. It was a whole lot of people - like, 60! - but here's a pic of just some of the people who showed up, from TimRoff:

After we met up at Starbucks, we headed over to the Mall for the rally, where I took a bunch of pics.
Here's a couple of our group, dubbed "Bloggers for Peace". A lot of people didn't seem to understand what a blog was, or what Daily Kos was, etc. I thought everyone knew about blogs by now!

There were lots of Vets in the crowd, especially Vietnam vets. Very cool.
People from many other states, including Michigan, New York, Maine and North Carolina turned out.
Heh.
January 20, 2009 - the day when this long national nightmare will finally be over! Unless McCain wins, in which case I really do think I'll flee to Canada.
Someone's head is in the way, but her sign says "Will Give Blow Job for Impeachment". Ahaha! Another woman was carrying a similar sign which read, "Somebody blow him already so we can impeach!"
This is CelticShel (sp?) who I ended up spending a good portion of the day with. She was very cool. :)
This girl is a lurker on DailyKos, and her nametag literally said "LindaILurk". So I had to take a pic and expose her on my blog!
Yes, Congress! LISTEN DAMMIT.

Anyways, after we did the rally thing, we slooooooooooowly made our way around to the march. At this point, my camera's internal memory was full - I have way more pics, but they all turned out crappy - and it was too crowded to take many pics anyways. Things got bottlenecked several times - at one point, it took us an hour and a half to move 3 blocks - but I guess that's the price to pay for having such a great turnout.
I got seperated from the main Daily Kos group several times and finally ended up with just 3 of the people I originally met up with, which was a bummer, but very understandable. It's kind of hard to keep 60 people together in a crowd like that.
All in all, I think this was a great rally. It was much more focused and disciplined, if that's the right word, than the last march I went to, where everyone brought out a pet cause and people didn't stick to the main issue, which is getting the troops out of Iraq now.
