Israel is gearing up for war with Syria and Iran.

I cannot believe the lesson they took from recent conflict with Lebanon is "We bombed the wrong place."

The Israeli defence establishment believes that Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear programme means war is likely to become unavoidable.

“In the past we prepared for a possible military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities,” said one insider, “but Iran’s growing confidence after the war in Lebanon means we have to prepare for a full-scale war, in which Syria will be an important player.”

Of course, our own raving bloodthirsty psychopaths in the U.S. known as the neocons have their own delusional fantasy landunique perspective, in which Israel should have bombed both Lebanon and Syria this summer.

If they had acted against Syria during this last kerfuffle, the war might have ended more quickly and better,” [Richard] Perle added.

Uh, yeah. Because an architect of the Iraq war debacle definitely understands how to use military force to achieve desired ends in the Middle East.

Advocates of political engagement believe a war with Syria could unleash Islamic fundamentalist terror in what has hitherto been a stable dictatorship. Some voices in the Pentagon are not impressed by that argument.

“If Syria spirals into chaos, at least they’ll be taking on each other rather than heading for Jerusalem,” said one insider.

Yeah! And it definitely won't become a training ground for terrorism OR an inspiration for more militant Islamic anti-America extremism!
