Or not. That's sort of what you'd get if you smooshed these stories together.
Tonight's PBS Frontline, about Dick Cheney, is called "The Dark Side." During a preview I learned that the title is a reference to the administration's claim that the War on Terra would have to be fought "in the shadows, on the dark side." But I'd rather think of it as PBS's tacit admission that Dick Cheney is, in fact, Darth Vader.
WaPo has a
review of a book about this shadow war.
And on a competely unrelated subject, a Stanford Professor has published a book
postulating why homosexuality is advantageous to species survival, and therefore hasn't been eliminated by evolution.
Macaque society revolves around females, who form intricate dominance hierarchies within a given group. Males are transient. To help maintain the necessary social networks, female macaques engage in rampant lesbianism. These friendly copulations, which can last up to four days, form the bedrock of macaque society, preventing unnecessary violence and aggression. Females that sleep together will even defend each other from the unwanted advances of male macaques.
Hee! Reminds me of bonobos, which have more recreational and frequent sex even than humans. "Hello. Wanna fuck?" "Let's shall," seems to be the typical bonobo interaction, with little regard for gender. But macaques might even challenge penguins for the gayest animal in the animal queendom.
