Katherine Harris Loses FOURTH Chief of Staff

Dayum!
The chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris announced his resignation Thursday, becoming the latest in a long list of staffers to leave the Longboat Key Republican.

In an e-mail, Fred Asbell said he's leaving to pursue a business opportunity, but he did not say what type. He also said he would do some consulting work with Harris' campaign for U.S. Senate. His last day is today.

Asbell said he had "greatly enjoyed" his time working for Harris and referred to the past year as "an exciting adventure."

Asbell was seen as a stalwart staff member who has sought to hold the office together as other staffers left and questions mounted about Harris' relationship with disgraced military contractor Mitchell Wade. With 30 years' experience in government, public affairs and management, Asbell was one of Harris' most veteran staff members.

[...] Elected in 2002, Harris has been plagued by a series of staff resignations in her congressional office and within her campaign.

Asbell was her fourth chief of staff, coming to the job less than a year ago.

In the past several months, her campaign has lost two campaign managers, a pollster, a chief political strategist, a spokeswoman and a media adviser who had worked with her for a decade.

This woman reminds me of someone I worked for as a temporary aide for a week - she'd been thru more secretaries than Murphy Brown, yet it was never her fault that so many people quit on her. ::eyeroll::
