So,
Democratic and Republican senators are calling for Dick Cheney to be investigated in the Plame leak. As you may have heard, it was reported last Thursday that in his grand jury testomony,
Lewis Libby rolled on Cheney. So what could make his weekend worse?
Well,
today he shot somebody.
Ahahahahahhaha!
Yes, President Cheney accidentally shot a fellow hunter today. With shotgun pellets. The guy's doing fine, so they say. Which strikes me as surprising for a guy shot in the chest and face, even if it was with shotgun pellets. I suppose it's a good thing that Cheney has "'a lot of medical people around him'".
Funniest shit ever. So, what was the over/under on Cheney shooting somebody this weekend? *hums "How I could just kill a man"*
ETA: Turns out,
this actually happened yesterday. Bradblog also raises the point that the info may have been withheld to see if he was gonna make it... and wonders if we'd have heard about it at all if he hadn't. According to a commenter, CNN's anchor asked if the patient would be able to go home tonight, and the doctor repeated that he was in the ICU. It seems like the media is doing everything they can to a) make Cheney look blameless, and b) underplay the seriousness of this guy's injuries. I don't know if the CNN article said he was in the ICU when I first posted (as it does now)... if it did, I read past it... but the whole tone is very suspicious, very, "These things happen, old boy, let's not make a fuss."
And I'm no doctor, but even I know you don't get released from the ICU to home. In my limited experience, a patient gets moved to a step down unit once they are stable enough to not need the intensive nursing and monitoring that they do in ICU. And then after at least a couple days, if everything goes well and they're confident that family can adequately care for the patient, with the possible help of visiting nurses, then they let you go home.
Now I kinda feel bad for laughing.
