Mod Check In, and a Poll!

Hey Internets! Did you miss me? I know you did. A week without my glorious presence can be quite traumatic!

Okay, okay, all kidding aside - I missed y'all something terrible. I had a good excuse for being gone: acute bronchitis, doctor's orders to stay home and in bed, and my therapist's orders to obey my doctor's orders. (I think my therapist was worried I'd make a really loopy post on codeine, like threatening the President's life, or something to that effect. *g*) Oh, and MASSIVE SHOUT OUTS to my liberalrage Partners in Rage, bailunrui and thisficklemob! They totally saved my sick, bed-ridden ass this week, and I love them forever for it.

I'm still sick, but feeling a LOT better. Yay antibiotics! I'm even going back to work Monday or Tuesday, and should be returning to my Regularly Scheduled Blogcast (already in progress) by then. In the meantime, it's the weekend and we're all so busy reeling from Fitzmas, not to mention busy planning last minute Halloween costumes, so no one will be checking this blog to begin with. :D

But while I've got your attention, I wanted to bring up something that's been eating at me pretty much since I started this blog: the comments. Specifically, anonymous comments, and whether it's worth keeping them enabled. There's two reasons why I've always kept anonymous on. One, the vast majority of bloggers aren't on LiveJournal, and I wanted to make sure friends without LJs could participate here. Two, I didn't want to be like Fox News and censor anyone. Sounds admirable, right? Well, there's a major, obvious downside: nasty flames, insults and threats from asshats. Most of the time I'm able to shrug it off and delete the comments before I can even think about them. But when you're sick and don't check your email for days, it's incredibly disturbing to come back to racist, homophobic and anti-semitic comments written in threatening language with mangled spelling. It's just another hassle don't need. Besides... if someone really wants to get in touch with me about something here, how hard is it to get an LJ account or send me an email?

Poll Yea or Nay?
