I know, I know. Before y'all jump over this here slogan, I know the US Constitution does not allow more than two terms. Yet, Roosevelt, Jr, did get elected to four consecutive terms. It was during the war and this was thought to be justified. What better time than now

I think plenty of non-Americans also look on Clinton's tenure as a rosier era, though he was heavily lampooned at the time. As an outsider I never really knew if the Democrats were unseated because of the sleaze, whether it was the antipathy of the oil/manufacturing sector for Gore, or something more serious like fiscal policy...?
I dunno, it's very hard to imagine how America and the wider world would look if, say, Gore had followed or if Clinton indeed had somehow stayed on. September 11th (or some variant) would probably still have happened. Katrina as well. And then after one term of perceived ineffectual government, would the Republicans have stormed back in with a significant majority? It's like a 12 Monkeys scenario, isn't it? X_x ( ... )
