Dynamo - Shakhtar in Ukrainian Cup Final. Again...
Dynamo continues to roll. They almost slipped up at home to Metalurh Donetsk (3-3) but, remarkably, Shakhtar did slip up (0-1) to Chornomorets. Dynamo had since easily defeated tavriya and Shakhtar unexpectedly easily defeated an inspiring Dnipro team in Dnipropetrovsk. So, Dynamo are now 2 points ahead of Shakhtar but Shakhtar is the real leader as they have a game against Zorya in hand. If no further surprises happen, Shakhtar should claim the title with a narrow lead. Their recent spotty play, however, suggest there might be further slip-ups, which will open the door for Dynamo.
Yesterday, Dynamo had played Metalurh Donetsk yet again (for the third time in two weeks). Dynamo won 1-0 and was able to augment their earlier first leg Ukrainian Cup semifinal victory. Shakhtar did their business again Chornomorets and by eliminating them they paid back ecstatically (3-0) for the earlier league loss.
So, once again, and for the fourth season in a row, quite predictably, the Ukrainian Cup will be contested by Dynamo and Shakhtar, the two giants of Ukrainian football, this time in Kharkiv. The previous three times, Dynamo had triumphed. This promisses to be quite a match.
