Reading rut...

So for a while I was doing really good- reading consistently. At LEAST before going to sleep I'd knock off a few pages.

The last book I read was The Kite Runner... fabulous book. You should pick it up if you haven't. Gives some perspective and history about Afghanistan that is not well known.

And then I kinda stopped.

I picked up One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the airport on my way back from Chicago. Haven't gotten hooked on it. Might take some time.

Then I picked up Annie Proulx's book of Short Stories on Wyoming. That's good... but easily put down...

So I've been reading Harper's Magazine. Lots of good shit in that. My sister got me a subscription. It's just really good- thoughtful, informative (biased to the left, yes, but still... the fascists have Bill O'Reilly... I have my harper's...)

So anyway, I was reading an article on Civil Disobedience, and realized that I have never FULLY read Thoreau's Civil Disobedience OR Walden... some English major I was! So... I picked it up last night. And read most of Civil Disobedience while doing laundry at the laundromat. It's getting me back into the reading. It's a GREAT work... if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and read it. If you HAVE read it, re read it. It is one of those pieces that has applicable themes throughout time... especially today...

So yeah... I'll probably write more about the essay itself at a future time, but right now, I have to get back to work... or try writing a little bit... who knows. :-P

oh yeah... katie comes tomorrow :)
