was the 2008 election a rejection of the GOP?

So I know this is pretty late regarding the election, but I was watching the talking heads today and some MSNBC guy had Bill*ASSHOLE*Blakemen on his show, and some random non-GOP scrub.

Basically, the non-GOP guy said that 2006 + 2008 were just small examples of what is coming in the future regarding the GOP and their having lost seats in Congress (and obviously, the White House); Bill Blakemen was just too butthurt to admit the GOP got scraped.

So my question is What do you think? Was this past election a sign of America's disenchantment with the Grand Old Party?

Personally, I'd say that's hardly the case. It's just that the Republican ticket this time around was absolutely ridiculous.
