I win at "too long for LJ", so this is broken up even more than yours.

I am also a person with strong opinions; and I like to think of myself as nice. So we have that in common!

It was not expressly addressed to you. It was sparked off by your most recent post, but these are all thoughts I've had for at least the last year now. I completely disagree with you about the snowball's chance, obviously -- I rather think in the reverse. But these are things we both already know. ;)

(I suppose I am also a multishipper? It seems weird to say, because it seems weird to me that there could be any other type -- but yes, I like het pairings, and slash pairings, and femmeslash pairings. I am terribly fond of Ichigo/Orihime, but my major 'ship for this fandom is probably Aizen/Gin, and I'm very sad that there isn't more threesome with Tousen in there. I find Ulquiorra/Orihime interesting, I liked Ishida/Orihime at first, I like Renji/Rukia and Gin/Rangiku and Gin/Kira if it's evil. I like Rukia/Orihime a lot. Ummmm... Ichigo/Chad is adorable. And I'm sure I'm forgetting things.)

1. I also like equality. I argue that Ichigo/Rukia does not have it, and that Ichigo/Orihime at least has the potential for it.

As far as we know, Rukia has reached her limit for power. She is, at the very least, limited by the same "wall" that Aizen described and was frustrated by -- as a shinigami, she can only ever be so powerful, where vizard (like Ichigo, and Orihime ostensibly, because remember: her power most resembles the powers of Hachigen, never mind any "realm of god" business) or arrancar (like Chad, ostensibly) have "broken" this limit and have greater potential.

Again, Rukia is not even lieutenant-level, and unlike much of the core cast, she has not become any stronger since the beginning of the series.

I know that you've said you think Rukia doesn't have to be physically equal with Ichigo because "they have a mutual relationship based on friendship and intimacy". I'm afraid I don't see why this doesn't also apply to Orihime, and so I am stumped as to why you think she would have to be "the most super-powered chick in the story" in order to be a good match for Ichigo. (Given her "vizard" status, I would argue that Orihime absolutely has the potential to become stronger than all three of those ladies.)

I also see emotions as a stronger basis for relationship than power levels, but this rant was meant to address arguments I had heard from Ichigo/Rukia 'shippers, and this was one of them. And, again -- I think that what's developing between Ichigo and Orihime is full of emotions, so I don't quite see why you feel that Ichigo/Rukia is automatically "better" in that regard.

Re: Sode no Shirayuki

I'm just kind of confused by this statement. I presume you are basing it off the elements, and it's true that snow is sometimes associated in Japanese mythos with the moon -- but Hitsugaya's zanpakutou is also snow/ice type (indeed, the strongest of them), so I think I need more than just that to accept this. If you are stating that you think it will someday be equal in actual power to Zangetsu, I think you're mistaken. Again, the talk of limits -- as a vizard, who already possesses captain-level power and a bankai, Ichigo is so far away from Rukia in terms of power that they might as well be on different planets.

3. Again, trying to respond to points I've heard other people make. I'm glad you don't think that his relationship with Orihime is incestuous. (I'm afraid I do kind of think Ichigo's relationship with Rukia would be -- I really think he sees her as a little sister, and his behavior so far has been consistent with that.)

Also again, this post really wasn't just in response to yours -- if I'd wanted to respond to you, I would have posted the rest of this in a comment! So I repeated and elaborated on that point because it was sort of the "beginning" of this rant, and went with the rest of it.
