Tonight, I introduce KotOR to kay_willow (which will hopefully make up some for the pain I caused her last night when Tony came over and we watched horror moves for several hours XD). As I type this, she is cycling through menu options and we're both being amused at the "How do I use you to open the door?" dialogue option.

"Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" is an awesome game. (As I've probably said before, and as I know many, many reviewers said; it was, after all, Game of the Year when it came out.) The graphics are kind of unimpressive, and there should definitely be more options all around for creating your character, but a class, a gender, a face, and a name aren't bad in terms of giving the character an identity.

The combat system is, I'm told, a bit cumbersome; I got used to it. More annoying is the "tutorial" portion of the game -- the ship you start out on is one long sequence of your temporary party member telling you to use the trigger buttons to select and open your locker to retrieve your clothes or attack enemies, etc.

Moving on! Gaining "Trask the Disposable Party Member!" Getting an important message from Carth, the future, less-disposable party member. Heading down the halls and getting attacked by various Sith soldiers. Watching a Jedi and a Sith mutually annihilate each other in combat. Oh, how I've missed this game.

I love KotOR. ♥ Such goofy love.

Also, Carth is a sweetie. He really is. Trust issues and all. And I really like the background music in this game -- so pretty and peaceful and vaguely Star Wars. I'd buy the soundtrack in a minute -- I remember leaving the game on on the Wookie world and just listening to the background music while I wrote. Mmm~.

Hahaha plot contrivance "understand many languages despite being a new recruit". Also, hahahaha, traveling within an arm's length of a planet that's practically under Sith martial law = very clever!

Now it's time to go check out the planet below! Oh boy.

Future giggly updates will be LJ-cut, as I imagine they'll give away more about the game's plot. ;)

spoilerz oh noes, dooork, game addict
