a snapshot of my life as a non driver in seattle. interactions with so many people each day. the diversity. unexpected conversations. thoughtful reflection. lost in a book. i really like these lines:
"And I ponder if it's time to save up and get a car
And pay for the gas that we're taking from the war
I'd miss all the colorful faces, the places and spaces
I embrace with the faith that I can rest and raise kids here"
right on. except i never ponder saving up and getting a car. i don't want a car, whether it's hybrid or whatever. i am passionate about public transportation and believe a world with less cars will be a better world. period. it's not just about the environment or wars, it's about the missed connections with people and places that happen when people isolate themselves in little boxes. being out with people on the bus or when walking home means i am sharing an experience. i am more in touch with what is happening around me. life as a non-driver feels different, better to me.
