very brief update on just one area of my life that i don't spend nearly enough time on
i swear i need a week or two off work just to catch up on personal thoughts and to organize projects.
land trust and buying land:
the land chris and i looked at seems unlikely at the moment. i want time to have solid plans in place before buying so we're just not making huge monthly payments on land. we need to know exactly what we want and expect from land, how to best finance it and if there is a way to actually bring in an income from the land.
that said, the owner contacted me again because he knows of people in the area who seem to have similar ideas as us and wants to at least put us in contact with each other. he said he really likes how we envision using the land and hopes we'll continue considering it.
also related, i'm interviewing for a position with The Trust for Public Land. if hired, i'd work half time with the director (admin) and half time with the team who purchases land for trusts. it could be a great opportunity to learn a whole lot about land trusts and purchasing land and the benefits are sweet. seems they actually value health care and time away from work. i'm not holding my breath as the position seems pretty damn competitive. first stage is phone interview with director, program associate and hr.
