our first wedding cake attempt!!

the wedding cake is a zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting. all organic. the chocolate cake is vegan and covered in berries from the farmer's market.
to say we received compliments for the cakes would be an understatement. i'd say rave reviews would be a better description! :)
i can not believe how many people asked about our "business." we had people who don't really like cake coming back for seconds, one person said he had never had a cream cheese frosting he liked and he loved ours (even tried more later to make sure because he was so surprised), another person said he'd never heard so many people raving about cakes before. i overheard so many people talking about the cakes. i heard so much moaning. there are pictures of people doing cake lines on each other's backs!! (side note: those pictures will be our promotional advertising if gwen and i ever have a business).
this was a really fun adventure. we managed to take on the responsibility of a wedding cake 5 days before the wedding and remain virtually stress free the entire time. i found myself in a really comfortable rhythm with gwen. i think our styles of working were very complimentary and our communication was key. it was a great reminder of how well we work together. i suspect this won't be the first since we were already creating new cake recipes at the reception. :)
