Okay. Here's the deal. My mother was born into a family of German-speaking peoples. They brought the language over with them in the early 1900's, and spoke it even thru the anti-German sentiments of the 1920's. The only reason I can still tackle lace is because of the muscle memory - kinda like knowing how to play the piano after years of practice. I know my days are numbered (my daze are numb-ered) but still I persevere. I belong to 7 Yahoo groups dedicated to shawls and lace (2 of which are German). And let's not talk about the whole tub I have of sock yarn.

Crochet cotton is not so good for socks. There is no "give" to it. You could knit socks, but they wouldn't stretch to go over your ankle. And if they were big enough to go over your ankle, they would fall off your foot.

I still have your "fall leaf" shawl I have to mail to you. I also made a shawl for Caroline, in pretty olive green alpaca, but haven't sent it yet. I have some of the yarn left still, and want to make you another shawl with pretty beadwork. The color is green, but it's more YOUR green than hers. Go to Knitpicks.com and look at their laceweight. It's Alpaca Cloud in Moss Heather. It's a soft Olive Drab. With Lime sparkly beads, will be gorgeous. Interested? Love and hugs to all of yours from all of mine.
