Heroes
I just happened to look on the fanmix community and I noticed a Heroes fanmix ...
... it was a Peter/Claire fanmix. I might be close-minded here or something, but surely I can't be the only one whose immediate reaction is "that's kind of wrong, she's his niece!"
I mean sure, in the series she looks up to him and seems to trust him a lot (despite not knowing much about him, really) ... but I thought that was it! Also we can surely assume that she's going to find out a lot more about her real family now that she's gone to New York and met Angela Petrelli, her grandmother.
I suppose there are plenty of non-canon ships out there for TV shows and stuff, but sometimes - and some people will hate me for saying this - it just seems that shippers will seize on any clearly platonic relationship in a show and impose romance and fandom squee on it. And it can be great, and some non-canon relationships seem to hit the mark much more than the canon ones, but surely with a relationship like the one between Peter and Claire, immediately seizing on the 'romance!' idea is dumbing it down slightly? I would be VERY surprised if the writers decided to put them together as a romantic couple, because of the aforementioned family link and also because I just don't see any romantic chemistry between them at all.
Not to mention that Peter was in love with Simone and presumably still has a lot of anger and grief over her death.
But maybe I am just being close-minded (not to mention analysing this WAY too much). And maybe the Peter/Claire shipper who made the fanmix is so far ignorant of the family connection. Who knows!
