I've been drawing again lately, which I'm very very pleased about! At the moment I seem to be using a manga style most of the time, no doubt inspired by the copious amounts of manga that I'm reading at the moment. It's all good though; I'm sure I'll do more drawings in my usual style (see my deviantART gallery if you're interested in examples) sooner or later, but at the moment I'm really inspired by manga.

Anyway, I thought I'd collect a few of my sketches into one big image to show off up here. I've posted it under the cut. Warning: it's not dial-up friendly!!

Very much sketchy and unfinished as you can see. But I had fun drawing them. I don't even know if I'll colour them or finish them. I kind of like them as they are. Anyway, they're an odd assortment aren't they?

Poppy, the girl on the right, was inspired by a song called 'Eanie Meany' by Jim Noir, whose CD I've been listening to non-stop at the moment. The song has a line in it that goes 'if you don't give my football back I'll get my dad on you'. Poppy has just kicked a football through someone's window, hence her rather worried/shocked expression. She's a bit of a tomboy!!

Koshiba is yummy! I'm quite proud of him, the first hot male character that I've drawn. :3 I know his body isn't that defined yet, but I kind of stopped drawing it after a while and didn't get the chance to do any tones or that sort of thing. So he's still in his rough unfinished form, and sadly might remain that way for a while.

In my mind the dragon behind him is supposed to be a mural that he would have been standing in front of. The dragon is also symbolic for his character. One of my friends pointed out that it looked like his spirit or daemon (like in His Dark Materials) or something, which I think is a cool idea as well. Better than a mural! The finished picture (coloured etc) would have showed it more clearly, but the chances are that I won't actually do anything else to it, for fear of ruining it. Plus there's no way that I would have been able to colour him effectively. *wishes she had a tablet/photoshop etc*

Also, Kalia is supposed to have a flickering flame coming out of her pointed finger because she's got crazy magic skillz. But the flame that I drew in didn't come out in the scan. Oh well. Also, the two symbols in between her and Poppy are attached to her sketch and not Poppy's. I was playing around with a tattoo design or symbols for the four elements, thinking maybe I'd draw more characters for earth, water and air. But that might be a bit cliché, I don't know. Anyway, the symbol on the left is fire and the one on the right is possibly water.
