Personally, I find that a great deal of Akeboshi's songs are quite haunting. He's really good at setting up a mellow mood, with lyrics that are also sometimes puzzling (maybe he's referencing a legend I'm not aware of in this one?) and yet... they are also elegant. A lot of his songs have this undercurrent of yearning in them, often bordering on unrequited love, and I think that draws me. "Yellow Moon" is a good example of that. Plus his music tends have violins and piano, and I have a known weakness for music that centers on these two instruments.

So I grabbed a translation from lyrics.wikia.com and when I started looking at it, I realized how much help that page needs. For one thing, there are two versions of the song, a long version and an edited version. The Japanese lyrics were for the edited version and the translation for the long version. *sigh*
Plus I decided I didn't really like the translation all that well. I mean, if the original wordage is disjointed and minimalist, I want to see that reflected in the translation, but the translation there seemed to insert a lot that was otherwise only implied in the Japanese. So this is a heavily edited version of what you can find there, not only to correct the lyric version to the edited version video I've linked, but also for wording. I've tried to reflect the original disjointed-ness of the song, smoothing it out only where it would start to unintentionally sound like a certain Big Ham singing. XDDDD;;;
Anyway, yeah. Wouldn't want that, right?
