playoff hockey

I forgot, I actually forgot how tense Flyers playoff hockey makes me. I was strangely and uncharacteristically calm (perhaps resigned?) until OT, when I all of a sudden felt optimistic, like there was a chance the way Eschie is playing that we might actually pull through.

I forgot how upset I can get, how attached to the players I get, until something like the sight of RJ lying on the ice looking like he couldn't remember his own name.

Even if we lose tonight, or if we lose the series, I'm proud of my boys. After the hit on Umberger I'm reminded of how much I want them to win not just for myself and the collective Philadelphia psyche but for them. For what they're willing to do to win, for what they've worked their whole lives for. I love them. They're my boys and I love them.

No matter what.

philly sports, hockey
