Stephen's e-mails from Iraq

Mar 26, 2007 14:01

A couple of years ago, I posted that my second cousin, Stephen, died in Ramadi, Iraq on March 4, 2005.

Stephen was an Army medic who signed up for the service after 9/11 and was stationed in Korea when he volunteered to go to Iraq, because he felt since he was young and unmarried he might save someone with a family from having to go.

Stephen is featured in this week's Newsweek -- they've published some of his e-mails from Iraq. The last one is dated two days before he was killed by an IED. In it, he shared the good news that he would be home in Delaware for leave in just 3 weeks. But instead he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

It would really mean a lot to me if you would take a couple of minutes to read about Stephen's time in Iraq. Thanks.
