Hey all,
Had an interesting day yestreday. I was on my way to visit a friend who lives in student dorms right across from the British Museum. As I get there, I see that the street is marked off and there is a bunch of police and people. Turns out the Olympic torch was coming through there and so there was a whole bunch of supporters plus people protesting the Olympics being in China (Free Tibet and all).
It was crazy, wall to wall people all shouting. The Chinese were shouting 'liar, liar' at the Free Tibet people who were shouting their slogan as well. It was all peaceful though, only one person got arrested. At one point I thought I was going to get in a fight because I was right between a group of China supporters and a group of Tibet supporters.
I can't even begin to describe what it was like to be there though. It was a feeling of being in a point of history, or at least a point of interest. The things you see when your out in the big wide world huh?
