My Part of Town...[for Ambria]

"Da, I'm leaving. Be back...when I get back." Marcus made his ever so eloquent departure by shouting across the apartment and not waiting for a response before pulling the front door closed behind him. The teen was on his way to the Woodside neighborhood where a certain metal-sculpting girl lived. Date night the first with Ambria. Not the first time they'd ever gone out, no, just the first time it's been as something other than friends.

He hailed a cab and settled in for the traffic-slowed ride and contented himself with checking out his reflection in the car's window. It was streaked but Marcus still grinned. He looked good. Casual cool with just enough muss to his red hair to imply that he spent quite some time styling the mess. In his pocket was a small gift box, a token he'd brought back from his trip to Santa Barbara, as promised. In his hands, Marcus held his cell phone.

Texting away to friends about random bullshit, he didn't even realize he was nearing his destination until the cabbie asked if he wanted to be let out at the corner or what. It took Marcus a moment to parse the question before shaking his head. "No, actually if you can pull to the curb and wait, we'll be going right back where you picked me up from, roughly."

Not back to his apartment building, no, but a few blocks over to the Mediterranean restaurant he wanted to take Ambria for dinner. Normally, he wouldn't do this whole trek across the city thing but it's what she wanted and he had no problem spoiling her a little this evening. Never hurts to make a good impression and all it really cost him was travel time (and a little cash...not that this mattered to the boy).

He took the steps up to the front door two at a time and then knocked with a bit of a cheerful staccato.
