Things I don't get
-Why it's the winter and yet for some reason it's still not a good idea to have a fire in the fireplace, according to my parents
-Why sometimes my sister's friends are total jerks to her
-Why sometimes even MY friends don't return my calls
-Why heat rises and yet my third floor room is colder than any other room in the house
-The general state of the union and politics and why this isn't causing more of a panic
-How old writers (even recent ones) don't capitalize after exclamations! is it because they're continuing a thought?
-unnecessary apostrophe use (as in your's, DVD's, 1970's)
Things I want to be better at
-MATERIALISM
-reading a good chunk of a book in one sitting
-exploring DC beyond the parts I know like the back of my hand
-making new friends
Things that are daunting
-figuring out the future (especially subletting and the summer)
-going someplace I've never gone
Things that are exciting
-going someplace I've never gone
-getting to kiss again
Things that are comforting
-forgetting what day of the week it is
-seeing that DC hasn't really changed much
-BIG Laura K dinners
-Klez sleeping in my room (she's so rebellious now!)
-reading a book that's a proven classic, so I know I'll enjoy it at least a little
-seeing my grade-point average slowly recover from when Paula, Jon, and Judith gang raped it first semester last year
-no alarm to wake up to
Things I could/would rather do without
-This new thing where people call me "Lie-am"
-money
-the way my hand smells when I pet my dog (it creates internal conflict)
-freezing days without a little snow to make things quaint
-cold feet (the literal phenomenon, not the mental state)
-nagging
-the stubble where it's really small and hurts when I brush my hand under my chin
-the genocide in Darfur
-paying for a bill with other people at a restaurant
-seemingly (or possibly?) incurable dry skin
Things I love
-our new clotheswasher
-Moby Dick
-playlists
-listening to playlists I make into Mix CDs for other people
-'Potle with like everyone who is anyone
-'Potle in general
-My mom already buying me a new gallon of milk because I downed the first one
-warm chocolate chip banana bread muffins when I wake up (at noon)
-dreams where the dialogue was from a conversation on the NPR that was played in my room this morning
-wireless internet?!??!?!! Such things this house has now.
-edamame, especially from Teaism
-knowing that daylight hours will only increase for the next six months
-resolutions and committing to working on them
-making lists
-adding things to my dry erase calendar
-long underwear
-my oddly elegant living room
-the smell of pine
-my sister's body sprays and lotions that litter her room and our bathroom
-reading my sister's Seventeen and Cosmogirl Magazines on the wide angled stair leading up to my room
-The Ethicist in the NY Times Sunday Magazine
-my Sacrum
-the blatant Ishmael-Queequeg homoerotic innuendo in 'Moby Dick'
-two-tone green checkered underwear
-People whose last letter in their first name and first letter in their last name are the same, creating an awkward, "one sound or two?" dilemma
