Arrr, I don't know what I'm doin'.

So on Tuesday I'd felt depressed and opted not to go on Tumblr -- not particularly unusual. By Wednesday evening I felt a little better, though had been anxious all day. But that night I was struck by the worst anxiety about going onto the site for some unknown reason; not hyperventilating, but my heart was racing and I felt really scared and my ( Read more... )

I don't shovel the backyard -- way too much work :> Basically we almost never go back there in winter, at least when there's snow (my next-door neighbour, the one who narks on us for our weeds, broke her wrist last year when she slipped on ice in her backyard). But by law you have to shovel your sidewalk, porch, and front walk within 24 hours of a snowfall. And I'd do it anyway because it's very hazardous to pedestrians. I had a good fall on somebody's unshovelled sidewalk a couple of years ago, which was loads of fun....landed on my back but fortunately recovered quickly enough to keep my head from striking the sidewalk. And many years ago my aunt slipped on some black ice and snapped her ankle clean through -- the bones broke entirely, the only thing holding her foot on was the skin and tendons.

I'm sure they're trying to do a good job, or at least a "cool" job (not necessarily the same thing). I like what they do with the art, it's clearly innovative. It's just that I don't think their writing skills are up to the task, ( ... )

Yeah, pretty much :> I went out far enough into the snow to take photos, but that's as about as far as I go. The steps leading down into the hilly area can be treacherous even when they're dry in summer.

She had to have her ankle put back together with pins, and I don't think it's ever fully healed. It was nasty. And that's why I try to make sure to shovel/salt everything carefully :P

Same here. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all that....

Also, THAT'S why I have such a grudge against neighbours who never/rarely shovel their sidewalks -- they may think it's no big deal, but people can be seriously injured or killed. Not to mention it's a barrier for the elderly and disabled to traverse. They shouldn't have to be housebound whenever there's snow, especially because we can have snow for nearly 6 months of the year here.

But meanwhile, we get shit over having a few weeds in the backyard that nobody can see into unless they're snooping. /gripes

Yeahhhh, it's the snoopiness that drives me crazy. I don't know why my neighbour is so into everybody's business and likes to impose her will on everyone else.
