hold on tight, 'cause this is a helluva ride
valentine's day, yeah. too much going on to think about that.
Chinese New Year's was awesome -- good food (the bao rose and split!!!) and great people, and getting to tell everyone who watched me grow up that I'm just getting better and better. I'm happy in my marriage, I'm happy in my job, I just feel like things are getting up. It's nice, getting to tell them that. It's nice to feel like I'm finally in control.
Already looking forward to next year. Already looking forward to the excuse to have everyone together again. Family yes, but extended family -- all the people who make my life worth sharing. The people I don't want to let down.
Work is taking off crazy-fast. Next week will be my 2 months with the company -- I just found out I'll be on salary in 2 weeks. Less, now. More money, more responsibility. I'll be doing my supervisor's job, same hours so I can still carpool with Josh but now I have homework. Inventory, purchasing, data entry manuals. My head's already starting to spin.
I get to write up the company training manuals for my current position, so I can train the next person in the door. People are coming in the door, like, now. Interviews and new people on the floor by this time next week. They'll be looking to the boys we have to tell them how to do their job, and they'll all be looking up at me. Floor manager, right? Plan the days, get the parts, keep everyone productive. Keep the money flowing, sales out the door. Christ but it's scary when even the owners admit that they're learning alongside you.
There's a deal in the works. Nothing final yet, we only just found out yesterday and it destroyed our concentration for the rest of the afternoon. If this goes through, half of us would be able to walk to work. You know you were meant for a business when the business keeps moving closer to you.
