...and a Happy New Year

Monday was so cool. I spent a day at work that didn't feel like work. I had stuff to do all day, and didn't notice the time pass. Then I was bitching because I didn't want to work at Pizza Hut on New Year's Eve -- so I walked in the door and they asked if I wanted to take the deposit to the bank and go home. I was home by 7, and we attempted to head out to Heather's...

...and two and a half hours later, when the wind and snow had us shivering in Chenoa, we made the call to cut our losses and head home. I lost count of the number of cars I saw in the ditch, and I saw one spin out and go nose-first into the ditch. We made it home by 11:15, turned on some RAW, failed to find a countdown in time, and rang in the New Year with kisses and some (sadly out-of-date) sparkling sake. We toasted the end of a hellacious year, and the start of a new chapter of our lives. Then we went to bed.

Woke up to my last day at Pizza Hut. I got a marble cake with cream cheese icing that said "Good luck Leigh, we'll miss you" and a helium heart balloon that said "We love you." I got a lot of hugs, and people even cried. I got a call from the regional manager that said I'll always have a job, I'll always have a recommendation, and if I decide I love it, I could come back and have my own store.

::snorts:: I never wanted my own store. I've seen good managers go bad that way.

Clocking out for the last time felt weird, and I couldn't stop grinning. I'm finally out. I'm glad I already started the other job, or it wouldn't feel real. I just can't believe it's finally over.

And now, I'm apparently creating a character on WoW.
